While stopped at an intersection, an 18-wheel big rig truck traveling between 40-60 mph rear-ended Jane Doe’s car. John Driver operated the truck, owned by Red Trucking Company. The police attributed the accident to the negligence of the truck driver. John Driver stated that he had “drifted to the left” into Jane Doe’s lane. The semi-truck and trailer smashed into the right rear of Jane Doe’s sedan, crushing her car and causing over $9,000 in damage. The truck broke its front axle in the collision and ended up in a ditch on the far side of the intersection. The high-speed rear-end collision with the semi-truck left Jane Doe with serious injuries to her back, including bulging discs. Jane Doe has not been free from pain since the incident, and her doctors opined that she would suffer from pain for the rest of her life. The matter settled before trial.
