Car AccidentsWhen accidents occur on busy California highways, the potential for multi-car involvement is typically high. However, when an accident occurs during rush hour, the chances of significant property damage, injury and potential loss of life rise considerably. Recently, a five-vehicle chain reaction car accident cost the lives of two young men.
The accident occurred on Friday, July 15 at approximately 4:50 p.m. A box truck driven by a 45-year-old man hit an SUV driven by a 26-year- old. This collision caused the SUV to run into a sedan, which was pushed into the center divider as a result. While the SUV veered to the right into another lane, the box truck then struck the sedan, which caused it to, in turn, strike a third vehicle (an SUV).
This collision caused the sedan to effectively fold in half, which killed both the driver and passenger of the sedan. The box truck continued on, pushing the sedan and second SUV until the SUV rolled over onto its side. The final wreck happened when the first SUV was broadsided by another sedan driven by a 36-year-old-woman. According to police, the motorists in the box truck and the first SUV were both taken to a nearby medical center with minor injuries.
While a car accident of this size and complexity is thankfully rare, anyone in California who has lost a loved one due to negligent driving of another motorist has the ability to file a civil suit for financial reparations. There are many unexpected expenses that can arise when a loved one dies in an accident, such as funeral costs, loss of wages and other financial considerations. Those facing similar situations could benefit from discussing their concerns with an attorney who is experienced in wrongful death litigation, as an attorney can discuss the various legal options available.
