We are passionate advocates of community involvement and take our role as a provider of information and resources very seriously. Each of our teams participate in year-round outreach and activism in areas of need that reflect the communities of their clients. Below are a few of the organizations we support and we encourage you to support them as well!
The mission is to end hunger in San Francisco and Marin. It’s a huge job that’s only gotten harder as our community struggles with a prolonged period of economic distress and record numbers of people are pushed to the point of hunger. Thankfully, thousands of caring donors and supporters have rallied around the Food Bank and enabled them to scale up their operations to meet the need. With 120 employees, 25,000 volunteers each year, and 450 partner organizations throughout the community, the Food Bank is vital lifeline for people in need of food assistance.
The mission of La Casa de las Madres is to respond to calls for help from domestic violence victims, of all ages, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. They give survivors the tools to transform their lives. They seek to prevent future violence by educating the community and by redefining public perceptions about domestic violence. La Casa de las Madres acts boldly to create a community where violence against women and children is not tolerated. They envision a society in which all individuals and families have equal access to basic resources and asset-building opportunities.
For more than 40 years, the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition has been transforming San Francisco streets and neighborhoods into more livable and safe places by promoting the bicycle for everyday transportation. Through its day-to-day advocacy, the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition creates safer streets and more livable communities for all San Franciscans.
The SFTLA Diversity Committee has established a Fellowship Program to introduce a diverse group of law students to the plaintiffs’ bar generally and to the SFTLA specifically. The Fellowship Program will allow selected students to observe the work of trial attorneys as part of a summer-long mentoring program. Fellows will gain exposure to the work of trial attorneys by “shadowing” three mentor law firms, each for a three to four week period. Fellows will attend depositions, hearings, settlement proceedings, and possibly even trial with their mentors. They will also have the opportunity to work on short-duration projects, including a writing assignment.
Walk San Francisco is an advocacy organization dedicated to making San Francisco a more livable, walkable city by reclaiming streets as safe, shared public space for everyone to enjoy. It seeks to put an end to preventable pedestrian deaths, improve public health and fight climate change.
