John Doe v. Defendant Law Firm
- Resolution Date:
- February 1999
- Practice Areas:
- Industrial Accidents, Legal Malpractice
- Synopsis:
- John Doe was injured while working as an aerospace mechanic under contract with the U.S. Navy. Because of a work- related accident, he suffered a fracture of three vertebrae that required a partial fusion of his lower back. John Doe was instructed by Defendant Law Firm that no civil action was available, which caused him to pursue only a workers' compensation claim. The firm learned that Defendant Law Firm had negligently instructed him regarding his civil claims and that a non-attorney made the determination that he did not have a viable civil claim. The matter settled before trial.
